Following sixth form Katherine applied for a coveted position at LIPA (The Liverpool institute of Performing Arts). The university was founded by Sir Paul McCartney and hosts some of the top tutors and equipment in the country. Their pop music course is one of the most popular in the world with thousands applying for just a handful of places. After sending in audition tapes, auditioning, interviewing and completing her A levels, Katherine was offered a place and made the move to Liverpool in 2004. She completed a 3 year intensive pop music course, focusing on vocal technique, performance skill, song writing and music business. During her studies she developed her musicianship, learning to play the piano and guitar, and wrote and recorded her debut album. In her final year she had a one-on-one song writing tutorial with Sir Paul McCartney where she performed her some of her original songs to him. Her degree culminated in a final live performance of her original material in the PMA (Paul McCartney Auditorium). In her assessment of this her tutor commented that she had the best pop voice on her course.
Katherine left Liverpool in 2007 with a BA Hons to her name and moved back home to Essex. In 2008 Katherine joined established function band ‘Soul Desire’, singing lead vocals and playing keyboard and guitar. In 2009 Katherine started her own business as a full time vocal coach, teaching children and adults around Essex. Katherine is currently working for the Billericay Music Academy and Thurrock Music Services teaching vocals and piano. Katherine is now performing solo in venues around Essex singing a variety of popular songs.
